Image Description: Header image is a Japanese painting called Storm Below Mount Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai. The icon is the dob logo, of three lines resembling books and dominoes— with two leaning against one book almost like they may topple. Next to the logo is a word mark that says "dob".

Volunteer with Bilori Journal

Our sister project, Bilori Journal, is looking for passionate literature and research lovers to join their team. Apply here.

You will be collaborating closely with the translation and editorial team. We view a piece of translation as not just another version of the original but a literary piece in itself worthy of its own criticism. We give credit to and celebrate our translators. You’ll be working in a creative environment where your initiative, expertise, and linguistic and editorial insights are valued.

You’ll be working closely with the graphics and editorial team. With the editor and designer, you will help in implementing a social media ethos that resists the attention economy as much as possible and create and share content that reflects Bilori Journal’s mission. Besides updating Bilori Journal’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, you’ll be responsible for coming up with innovative, wholesome ideas to make the journal reach the readers and writers who will want to engage with our work. You will get to work in an environment where meta discussions about the unforeseeable and known negative impact of social media are a natural first step before finalising a campaign. Your editorial and social media insights would be relied upon.

You’ll most likely fit right in if you’re a reluctant graphic designer. We empathise with the plight of the designer who wants to resist capitalism and the attention economy, and value people who want to address the harmful loopholes in the design pedagogy in India in whatever way possible. You will engage in a lot of philosophical and technical back and forth with the chief editor and social media coordinator, and your initiative, expertise and insights would be immensely valued.

Please note: The expectation of work hours is 5 hours per week. Shortlisted applicants will be asked for a video conversation to chat about their application and the role. The team will convey its final decision within 2-3 weeks of the conversation.

Apply to Bilori Journal here.
